A translation service by Google

One of the greatest challenges faced by the search engines is to provide the functionality of giving search options to people in all languages. Google has found a solution for this and they have taken an attempt to learn as many languages as possible and are giving a translation service for those languages. They are providing a facility that allows searching for words and phrases in various languages as well.

Another greatest advantage provided by Google is by giving you an option to give a google translate gadget in your website. This will give the audience visiting your pages to translate them into languages convenient for them. Google has extended this service to make it available on iPhones as well.

They have provided an excellent translation service. Along with this, they give a Google translation service which is mainly intended to be for trusted users. A human translation service is also being used which is not depending on the automated methods for translation. The spam and other misspelled words are filtered out of the feedback provided to the Google translation service. This way, the translation service will be improved by the users who are going to use the Google translation service.

I find the Google Translate service to be much better and accurate than any other service, including Babelfish (recently acquired by Yahoo). I use it for all translation purposes.

I haven’t tried nicetranslator, but I have tried babelfish, and I agree that google translate is much better. There is no limit to the amount of words you can use, and how many times you can translate. Babel fish has limits. Most times the translate is not perfect, but you can understand the context perfectly.

I have used Google translate regularly and have found the results to be very useful. Especially when researching about foreign issues and reading through translated local press and blogs to gain information.

It’s a development that will continually get better over time and will open up the internet to all audiences in the future.

As far as web page translations go, this thing can’t be beat, but when I’m just trying to look up single words in their translator, it often comes back with exactly what I put in. It even does that with certain phrases, which is really annoying. I was hoping it would be better than the dictionary.com translator, but it seems to be fairly similar in terms of results.

I use Google translator for translating pages to english and it works great. Not perfect but still enough for me to understand the content. Thanks.

Google Translator is working ok. There might be better software to buy but for free it is good. You need to manually edit the text though, but thats ok. we use it mainly german english.

Nice post. Google is always trying to improve their services. Because there are so many competitors in the industry. They can get a huge number of new users if they make their site multilingual. I think that’s what Google is trying to do. I really hope it works well because it helps users a lot. Thanks for sharing the information.

I prefer to use the google translator it really helps a lot to, it is unlimited, so you can choose any words as much as you want to translate. An available tool for all.

This is something that i dont understand. Why havent anyone done this before? Translating shouldn’t be that difficult for a program to do. I think that it would have great effects on making our world smaller. How cool wouldn’t it be to have program that takes one language as input and gives another user on the other side of the world the output in his own language, and vice versa? Now, I know that some programs like this exist, but they are basically just crap giving out meaningless sentences and words…

You need to take any automated translation with a pinch of salt – it will give you a good idea of what something means, but can never be counted on as ‘professional’

Googles tool is really great. It misses sometimes, but most of the time it works like a charm. I work as a translator and I use the tool a lot in my job.

You may be right that machine translation will never be as good as the work of a human translator, but consider using simple/controlled English on your original website to maximize the quality of the MT output. It really makes a difference!

    Thanks for the article.

Google Translate seems better than any other available tools, but machine logic results in issues with accuracy.
