Google changes its algorithm many times a year, according to Matt Cutts, however the last Farmer update was really a major one...

Did anyone else notice a large change in the organic rankings after Thanksgiving? I suffered a huge loss in my rankings and have no idea why.

I understand that in order to keep SEOs and web site owners a little honest things must change, but give us little guys a break. I watched my website go from number 6 on page one for the last 3 months to number one on page 4, to number 10 on page 4 to page 5, then to page 7...all in the matter of less then 12 hours.
The irony of all this is not one website to has moved up to the the first page has anything to do with our product. If I owned a restaurant or supermarket or big department store chain I could use what these other websites are selling. As always, Google and the rest of the search engines do it to us again. Nice going to all you people who run the search engines. You're turning out to be just like Big Brother in the fact you have no clue what the public really wants. I'm sure when I look something up on the internet I want more than the first 2 or 3 pages to be the same merchandise, only from different companies. Your day will come, and siooner than you think!

Realistically it has to keep refining and changing - I don't think they'll ever bring in major changes simply as if it's the most popular search engine and "it ain't broke then why fix it" - minor changes are probably a good thing, if ultimately they give the end user more accurate search results. I'm sure a lot of it is based upon user surfing habits, so in practice it's the user that is defining the search results, which is the way it should be.

Google is always a moving target, the big guys are always slow to move, so the little guys can always exploit long tail niches as long as you play by the rules

may be google use to change the algorithm regularly so that no one will master search engine rankings.Anyways there are lot of other ethical seo techniqes with which you can rank higher.

That's kind of messed up if that's true. It's hard as it is to try to move up the rankings in a competitive industry as a smaller company.
