I don’t think that one is going to destroy the other. It seems like Twitter will continue to grow and eventually just exist side by side with Google. Dave Winer was right: you need to watch the story unfold on twitter to really know what’s going on. That’s why Twitter is perfect for all the tech savvy internet denizens and Google will remain the resource of choice for those who go online once a day (or less). Good article.

No competition. Google is always going to be on top. Twitter was not meant to be a search engine, so it shouldn't be used as one.

I don't agree that Twitter will overpower Google in the future. Google has been in the business for a long time now and there is no way Twitter can be better.

I love using Twitter, but I agree that older tweets have little value since everything on Twitter seems to be "of the moment". I'll still use Google along with Twitter though.

I really enjoy Twitter Search.

Watching Soccer or 'Next Top Model'? => Follow discussions on Twitter.

Having a problem with your iPhone and Freemailer? => Ask Twitter (Search).

And so on...

Twitter has become and is becoming more and more popular each day. It has millions of members and people who are just addicted to it however I highly doubt that twitter can really compete with Google.

I think what's particularly useful using Twitter as a search engine for news, is that with tools such as Tweetdeck, the tag cloud gives an indication of the popularity, or in many cases, the emotional strength behind what's going on.

It's definitely not as one-sided as the media ... accuracy? Well I guess time will tell.

Thanks for the nice write-up.
