Google are Now Bringing in More Real Time Results

The current popularity of Twitter and the fact that Twitter are trying to turn them selves into a real time search engine has made Google stand up and react.

Although we all know that fresh unique content was always essential to build power and authority on your site and also give your new post a freshness boost, there has been a slight tweak in the algo from what I am seeing over the last few days to give further power to fresh posts from authority and powerful sites.

What seems to be happening is that when a new post is created it gets indexed and then placed into a Top 10 position for some highly competitive terms, this ten over the next few days drops off on to page two, three and then eventually disappears from the SERPs.

It seems as though Google have increased the algothirm to bring in fresh results a lot more. Again this is great for that extra little bit of exposure.

serps
A great example of this is the term “SEO”. Firstly it was Dave Naylor’s post about geo targeting which came straight into the Top 10 and then slowly faded out as the post aged and then the Search engine journal post which hit the first page and then slowly started shifting out.

I have also seen this occur on numerous other search terms

I think you are probably right with this. I know someone who runs an authority golf site and their traffic has gone up by about 33% over the last few months and most of that is from Google.

I’ve noticed this happening to one of the blogs I work with. Blog posts go up to the top 10 for targeted keywords, then start gradually dropping off.

I also have noticed the same that within one hour a particular article gets indexed if its in your homepage. But gradually its position changes as per the new updates in that particular keyword. Sometimes it stays there for few days and suddenly disappears from first page.

Ahhhh, that makes a lot of sense really.
I’ve noticed my results ballooning all over the place recently but didn’t attribute it to Googles new algorithm. Totally makes sense that they’re tailoring it to the newest content generated by social media sites.

I think that it will be especially interesting to see the approximate life of content that is indexed right away and then fades… will it fade in a consistent manner, is it based on the activity within a niche, or something else?

I’m interested to see what happens.

So this probably explains why my site got to #1 on page 1 and way above the articles I had published on high PR sites.

I keep changing my content not because I knew what would happen but because I wasn’t satisfied with my ‘English. I didn’t know it would move my site up the SERP,

Google remains to be at the top! No matter how many competitors they have, they still managed their position. With much improved service from them, I’m pretty sure this would be another edge for them.

I dont think Twitter could ever replace Google as a search engine, yes, agreed that Google page Ranking update is a little slow to update but Google is getting better at updating the ranking to what it use to be like. For me I use Google for all my website stats.

The question I would like to raise, if this gets bloggers a sudden boost on their keywords, how does this effect users who have strong content to place them high on Google results. Does this new method dilute the top results?

Google’s achievement only proves that they are offering quality service to their users. Now, their campaign against irrelevant results in their search engines really helped them maintain their name as a service provider.

I don’t believe fresh content goes to Top 10 position then slide into the next page after a few days then third and so on. Check keywords “alexa ranking tips” and you can find my blog article in 3rd position. It’s been there 3 weeks as far as I know but it could have been longer. Number 1 is been there too for 3 weeks.

I think it only changes if Google thinks the relevancy changes too or their algorithm says otherwise.
