Google Constantly Rolling Out PageRank

pagerankI decided just to let a few people know about the current state of PageRank,I still know that for a lot of reasons such as the rate of crawl and the depth of crawl pagerank is essential to some people.

I am seeing a vast amount of people on forums still stating that pagerank is updated every three months or so. This is outdated information and is something that is misguiding a lot of people.

From what I can tell Google is now continuously rolling out Pagerank updates, I have seen new sites get pagerank within a few weeks of working on them. We always used to know that Google have always been constantly updating their inner Pagerank status on a daily basis and now that is what seems to be displayed to us. There is no more long periods of pagerank inactivity.

Hope this helps clear up a few matters

Yes i totally agree with you. I have seen some Blogs and Sites which are just 2-3 moths old gaining PR 2-3. This was not the case few months before, Google used to update PR after long intervals, but they are updating PR often. Lets what more changes will be made by Google.

  • http://www.getlinkspro.com Jeet

I own a list of directories and I know PR is being updated very regularly, I liked it being updated every 3 months though, because I have to update my list every time the PR update happens. ;-)

  • Bob Whitehurst

I’m not sure whether you have any info to back this up, but I am curious if you can provide some. I have wondered if this is the case as well.

However, I have interviews with people from Google that say it is not updated more than every few months.

The evidence I have is through experience and sites I have been tracking. This is definatley the case in my opinion

Google tend to decline stuff initially, I would like to see some of the interviews, because personally it seems only a small amount of people at Google are really aware with what is going on, otherwise they just say what people have been saying for years

can provide information that is very interesting
This article is very useful for me

Interesting to hear, and that is great news. I too was under the assumption PR is updated every few months, it seems that’s what everyone is saying on all the sites and message boards.

If what you are saying is true, I hope to get my site to a PR1 soon, it’s been up for a little over a month.

    Regards

It is a good news indeed. Many blogger are checking on their blogs’ page ranking.

  • http://www.smilewindscreens.co.uk/ Tim Morrow

We cannot judge when is the update coming. Google always changes its algorithm about page rank. We can never predict anything about PR. Normally PR updates are for every.

  • http://www.extremesportstrader.co.uk Duncan

I’ve been playing around with a few different sites and I’ve seen the PageRank jumping around every couple of weeks or so, moving both up and down. This is hard proof that updates don’t only happen every 3 month or so any more but are instead more regular

  • http://www.techjaws.com Frank J

The last 4 updates were 90 days apart or very close, give or take a day or two. Many SEO folks are going by that time frame as there’s nothing posted else where. However, the last update was (60 days) on 5/27 which breaks the 90 day average.

Even Mr. Cutt’s has no idea.

Thanks for the excellent post. Very useful for a newbie like me

  • http://www.thewebsitedoc.com/ Fred

Google seems to be improving their ability to update much of their information faster and faster. They seem to spider sites much more frequently than they use to.

  • iman

    woa.. is it true?
i read many articles that said PageRank changed every three months, ..
or maybe google has changed their policy..
    hmmmmm…

  • http://www.allapparel.biz Jason

I have a hard time getting a better page rank on Google, and some SEO’s tell me that page rank doesn’t matter. I want to get a better page rank but it seems impossible. help!

  • http://www.scroobyonline.co.uk/ Scrooby

I agree with you that this is the case, my PageRank was updated about a month ago and then this morning it rose again.

Very useful for a newbie like me i have a question, why my page rank cannot up from 2 :(

  • http://www.karthikkumar.in KARTHIKKUMAR

Absolutely true i have seen some blog got pr of 1or2 in couple of months.

  • http://www.crea-site-web.fr Guest

i though it was almost every three months. Thank’s for that information

  • http://www.squidoo.com/articledirectoryinformation AJ

I’m going ok with my PR, I just keep building in links and don’t really look to swap, which I think is overrated and negated.

  • http://www.dempseygraphics.com Ryan v.

Although the large majority of evidence points towards page ranking only updating approximately ever 90 or so days, I have seen some strange page rank activity in the past. Some of our sites have lost or gained a point over the period of a week or so in between the “official” updates. Although there is much talk of page rank not being as great a factor in site ranking as it was in the past….time will tell.

  • Vedran

I can definitely confirm this, the PR displayed in Google Toolbar is now being updated MUCH more often.

  • http://www.truecolortech.com Will

Thanks for that information I read an article not two days ago that indicated the contrary. I will start believing PR has some weight to it again. Thanks for the great site!

  • http://www.pure-light.co.uk Kay Forrester

Yes it is very true that Google is continuously rolling out of page rank. I am sure many of you are thinking the same that what exactly is going on and how long it is going to stay stable. There is a need of some sort of stability and this is needed very much.

  • http://answerstash.com smith

Yes I have seen many changes in the google page ranking system from past few months now blogs sites page ranks are being updated in terms of weeks.

  • Pieter

I think I noticed the same. I had my portfolio website for about 1 month and I already got a PR2.

But the real question is: does PR still matter? I’ve read it does, I’ve read it doesn’t.

  • http://www.europe-trips.eu abraxas

Yes definitely the PR in toolbar is updated very often and i am sure. But i am not sure weather the PR of inner pages is changed often or not? Can any one help me on this one.

  • Sachin Gupta

I think the PR system of Google is fine and is working in accordance. i Continuously visit may website and blogs but i did not found any of such problems.Google is not loosing its grade for sure B-)

I think the PR system of Google is fine and is working in accordance. i Continuously visit may website and blogs but i did not found any of such problems.Google is not loosing its grade for sure B-) You should also not fret much about it.

  • http://www.undiefactory.co.uk CK

I agree to you abarax about the PR updates & i think there are lots of changes done by the google in the PR updates & as you said that question so i have the answer for you that!Yes the inner pages also get updated for their PR by the Google!

  • http://www.mattchedit.com/ Matt Chatterley

I think there is definitely some truth here.

Although PR doesn’t carry that much weight in everyones opinion, you can’t deny that it’s a reasonable indicator of the value of inbound links.

We’ve certainly seen 3+ updates on some sites, this year alone.

  • http://www.zero2000software.com ruben17

I just buy domain with PR 1+, after read your article, i know that not warranty my PR will continue, so i have to work hard to still get PR1+.. thanks this make me clear

  • Alli

PR update is become something very unusual now a days.Lets see what all happens more, how much changes will Google make.

  • http://economicalhost.com/ Roshi

There is a lot of fuss going on around and i am sure that many people are confused about what is going on. Specially new people are pretty confused about it, they can’t even be told a fix period of update.

  • http://knolik.com John

Last year google PR is almost irrelevant value, because google do a lot of manual and semi-manual PR correction fro many websites. But nevertheless the SERP and general indexing rate for these sites do not change. this mean that Gogole PR is not very perfect measure of web site linking quality now.

  • http://www.lawyersdb.com/ Harry S

Pr cannot be determined. Google has brought a tremendous change in its PR rotation. This i think it is an idea because so that competitor’s cannot manipulate. Lets see what more is going to happen.

  • http://www.agramycity.com Baxy

You are absolutely right Musa, my website is the real evidence of this. It got ranked by Google within one month of its launch.

Like you I have also seen many posts on different forums asking about the time of PR update, this change will give some peace to all them who are worried about Page Rank.

  • http://forums.vmoptions.com/ Amy Rich

As far as PR system of Google is concerned i think its perfectly fine.ya its true there must be some problem arising in the updation of PR but thats not of much ado to anyone i think. After all Google is such a big Company m sure they will find out a way to fix it up.But it doesn’t means Google is loosing its charm I vouch for Google any day!

  • http://www.doors-and-windows.net/ mdoherty

Until I saw this I was one of the masses that thought Google updated PR every 3 months or so. Thanks for the information. I have a new site so I will be looking to see what PR it gives me.

  • http://www.web-directories.ws Stan Weir

It is just for a time being and i am sure that Google will bounce back and will be there with a bang. it is easy for people to say these things….but bad time comes in everyone’s life.

  • Stendo

Great post! I’m new to this site, but I bookmarked it already!

  • http://www.eexplore.org Tomseo

Yes, the same thing i have been noticing from may 2009.

Others keep on telling that PR now is irrelevant because Google starting to change the PR status of sites. This is very alarming to website owners with high PR sites.

  • http://www.smartin.in smartin

Yea true . After December Google is not following the usual 3 month period before updating pagerranks. They are continuously changing their search strategy . This change of is also reflected in traffic and backlink count . People say that PR is less important than traffic .But I guess websites with higher PR will be placed on superior positions in search .

  • http://www.maney.pl/ kredyty

Google is the father of Internet and its services are haphazard. Yes page rank of sites is increasing from last three months . There is up and down in the page rank of sites day -by-day.May be page rank is changed due ti traffic on the site.

  • http://drzwi-automatyczne.com.pl automatyczne wroclaw

I noticed that he was a google update. In my opinion Pagerank was awarded with a surplus, but soon it should all go back to normality
