How I Just Purchased Google.co.uk for Under $20

Ok Iwas looking to start a new personal project with car insurance affiliation, to my surprise car-insurance.co.uk was avaliable at Godaddy I went through and it let me check out… Hey there must be something wrong here as I then checked carinsurance.co.uk and again got that. Finally I searched for the big one Google.co.uk ad OMG it was avaliable so I snapped it up. Idont know if this is a problem that Godaddy are having with IE8 but I have three established domains that I have paid for, I hope I get a refund :-)

Lol, shame it was a problem with Googles registration, you could have sold it back to them for a ton :P

  • GoDaddyGuy

Sorry about the trouble. To maximize our customers’ chances of registering available domain names, GoDaddy.com processes orders even if there might be problems communicating with the registry (to determine availability). We think false-positive domain name registrations are better than false-negatives.

In the rare instance when someone orders a domain name and it’s unavailable, we automatically refund the order. If you have questions, we offer 24/7 support via support@godaddy.com and at 480-505-8877.

Haha, that’s a huge issue. A lot of people must have snapped some really good domain names like this. Only to be disappointed later.

WOW, google.co.uk? Google never bought that? Somebody is gonna piss off and somebody is gonna make a fortune :p

You should have jumped at such a good chance, that is once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. But so shame you missed. LOL

I’ve used Godaddy for ages, and since moving to Britain and managing a number of .co.uk domains found that MOST of the time, there is some problem with their issuing those domains.

Typically, the automated system fails to immediate complete the registration, though it appears to have gone through, then fannies about for 24-48 hours as I wonder whether or not I’ve got the domain!

I finally got so fed up with these issues that I picked a different registrar for all my new domains. It’s a pity, because aside from this one problem (all .co.uk domains being a pain), they’ve been a solid performer over the years.

Atleast you can still say you once registered google.co.uk successfully at godaddy :p

Cool of GoDaddy to come on here and comment, fair play to them!

  • http://quick-money-making-now.com/ Guest

Lmao! How cool would that have been? xD I guess if you want something bad enough, there’s no reason you can have it. :)

I’m suprised they went to the trouble of visiting this blog to comment on the issue!! Shows some seriously impressive customer service for them to go to the trouble. Either that or its kinda scary they pay so much attention!

  • http://www.bacomputersolutions.com Guest

Interesting glitch, they probably said that it was available so they could process your payment quicker, which was probably a bad move on their part bc now it will cost them to refund you.

  • Guest

So whats the final result?? did they refund it?? you must have claimed for some huge money from godaddy lol.

  • http://www.runuoturk.com Guest

Really funny. :) You will probably get a refund.

Cool! if that really happened! imagine if you’re selling that and this would really means business. I remembered the facebook event last june 13. Even usernames are hot business stuffs

I just as surprised as Doug, that someone from go daddy actually responded. Kinda cool that you got someone from there reading your blog giving you some personal attention.

  • http://www.forextradersystem.com/ tim

It happened the same to me when I was searching for a domain I knew was registered. I just didn’t register it because I knew it wasn’t possible and I didn’t need more hassle after that :)
