The New iPhone 4 is Having Teething Problems

The new iPhone 4 has only just arrived but reports from the United States seem to suggest that there are a few teething problems with the device. The phone is due for release here in the UK over the next couple of days but maybe people would be wise to wait and see if there are any more complaints. If the reports of problems are correct it will be proof once again of the wisdom of not rushing out and buying a new device as soon as it hits the shelves.

The main complaint about the iPhone 4 is that there seems to be a yellow discolouration that appears as a line on the screen. Apple have changed their display for this phone with the aim of it providing a much higher resolution; it seems though that this new ‘retina display’ might still have a few wrinkles that need sorting out.

As well as the complaints about the new screen there are also worries about the phones reception quality. It seems that holding the phone in certain positions will seriously affect its ability to get a signal. It seems that the metal bands on the iPhone also act as antennas so if you are block them in any way you can lose your signal.

Like most people I like the idea of getting gadgets when they first appear, but I can also see the wisdom of not doing this. Over the next few months Apple are sure to iron out all the wrinkles with this latest device so it makes a lot of sense to wait until then to buy the device. The other good thing about waiting is that there is always the chance that something better could appear in the meantime – Apple can’t dominate the phone market forever you know.
