@Joni - Obviously I know they have different meanings that's why I said there (place) and their (personal). By all means I understand what your saying.. But I live in the UK and English is my first language and I could out write any of you under the table. If people don't want to read the blog because of a gramatical error then so be it. ( I don't really want people like that reading the blog anyway) All I want is to give an interesting read to users, I try to fit my blogging around my full time SEO work so one thing I have to do is put a post together quickly. A blog is about personal views of a person (s) its not an English essay nor is it writing reports or letters for clients. I like to think of my blog as a laid back environment (SEO Slang as you could call it :-) and I just will not tolerate people coming on my own blog and criticizing me, if you dont like it read elsewhere, that will offer you boring content with no gramatical errors.

@Keren - I understand your thoughts, but I have almost 4,000 followers on Twitter twitter.com/musaaykac and to be honest iv never met any of these people. As you are looking at this from a marketing point, my friends on Facebook from school days etc are more likely to answer and visit my URLs than people from twitter are. I was an early adopter of Twitter as its my job to check these things (before it had all this media attention) and I did for marketing purposes test the waters and its probably one of the worst converting social sites around(please check out my twitter experiment http://www.seotops.com/the-twitter-experiment_96/). There is one use for it as that is connecting with fellow SEOs but thats something I can also do on Facebook and get to know them more there as they have images and discussions going on.

Finally dont get me wrong I have nothing against twitter (I use it all the time), I just feel that is has too much over valued hype. It may be a good resource now but for the long term I just can't see it lasting. I may be wrong but only time will tell

there, their and they're are three separate words with three separate meanings. You can write however you like, true; it's your blog, your web space. But, as was already said, if you want your readers to take you seriously, you'll check your grammar and spelling.

And if I were you, I wouldn't be defensive about it; I'm sure the other commenter was pointing it out for the same reason I am. So that you would take more care, your excitement notwithstanding, with your articles so that people will take them seriously. Articles like this have the potential for great impact. If that's not your goal with this article, then please, carry on and take nothing away from the constructive criticism.

I think you might just be right.

My facebook is ONLY people I know by first name. I follow people I don’t know all the time on Twitter just like a blog (hence Microblog).

But I can tell you what would reel me into facebook. My brothers and I started the facebook app <a href="http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=44967646746"Status King (it is the first facebook app to print facebook status updates on t-shirts). If they gave me a way to have a public microblog just for Status King (AND it is not forced on my 400 friends who don’t care about it) that I could use on our app, fan pages, groups, and anything with facebook connect, then I would be sold. BUT it would have to be separated from my personal status updates and friends and only connected with the niche I am microblogging about.

At that point without some MAJOR innovation, the only thing Twitter has up on facebook is their name (”status update” just doesn’t have the same kind of wordplay and value).

Musa,

I like your blog but I totally disagree with you here.
My Twitter network is growing way faster than my FB. I use Twitter desktop account and that make my Twitter experience instant. I communicate with friends on Twitter more than on any other Social Network. I get a lot of info (and quickly) from my Twittership.
Twitter tools and services pop-up on daily bases.
I don't think that it is going away and surly not by FB.
Btw, I despise people that comment on my English and not my post content.

Hmmm emdub

Seems like someone is a twitter employee with some anger coming across.

English is my first language and I can write how I like on my own blog thanks very much. (Although I sometimes rush to get the news out from excitement :-) )

And just to correct you they're really doesnt come in the same specification as there (place) and their (personal) as its just a short term for "they are"

You should really get your their, there and they're sorted. English is my 2nd language and even I see the mistakes. Kind of devalues your opinion...

"A lot of people (mainly Facebook users)..." wow. Such specificity and explanation of research or numbers. I'm a facebook user and actually see twitter as nothing to do with facebook... both are social, that's it. And with me I have quite a few number of friends... does this make it a general opinion?

I truly believe twitter is here to stay... we'll see. :-)

I don't think that FB will ever beat Twitter, and vice versa. Reason being that FB is mainly used for personal reasons, while Twitter is used for a variety of them, even for work. FB will never be used for more than personal for many people. I know there are companies who use it, but it's mainly a certain type of company.

Great blog!
