The new ios4 update for the iPhone and iPod Touch has been released just before the arrival of the next generation iPhone. The great news about this update is that it can also be enjoyed by those of us who have no real interest in getting the latest iPhone – at least not yet anyway. This latest update brings some great new features that many people have been asking about for ages; obviously the crowd at Apple have been listening and this update has something to please everyone.
The big news with this new update is that it allows multitasking. This means that you will be able to easily switch between many of the third party applications. Apparently not only will this make things easier to manage but it should also lead to better battery performance as well. This update also promises to bring a better spell checker that will be able to work with many of the usual places where you need a spell check. Another interesting new development is the ability to divide you applications into folders. This is good because my iPod Touch is full of applications for my son and it can be hard finding my measly few – now all his games can go into the one folder – sweet. It will also now be possible for Wi-Fi to stay connected even when the device is in sleep mode and there is a new way to organise photographs. This update will also come with the new iBooks application which is Apple’s latest attempt to get even more money out of me – apparently it is really good. I don’t know about you but this latest update will certainly please me – it will be like getting a new generation iPhone without the need to spend any money.
