If you like to blog using WordPress then you may have already heard about this new incarnation WordPress 3.0. This new version took half a year to create and comes with plenty of new features. Many of the bugs that were found with the older versions have been removed. There were 218 WordPress contributors involved in creating 3.0 and it is named after Thelonius Monk; a famous jazz musician known for his ability to innovate. Another great aspect of this new version is that there is now multi-site functionality; this means that you can run as many blogs as you want from the one installation – powerful stuff. One of the other really interesting things about WordPress 3.0 is it comes with a new default theme called ‘Twenty Ten’.
The new ‘Twenty Ten’ theme is going to replace the older theme which had been around for about five years – time for a change. This new theme promises to be a lot more flexible and better able to take advantage of all the new potential created by 3.0. You are now able to create custom menus and better backgrounds. This all sounds like great news to me.
One of the great things about social media is that it allows you to have a voice and communicate with people who you would otherwise have no contact with under normal circumstances. Many of us use our blogs and social media together in order to get as many people as possible to read our ramblings. Anything that makes this easier or more effective gets my vote and WordPress 3.0 seems to be have done this. This is probably why it is now the most popular place to blog; it just keeps getting better and better. I always find changing a theme like changing girlfriends but I must admit that the new default with 3.0 is tempting me.
