The news is now doing the rounds that the new Google music service is going to be launched in time for Christmas. This new download service is said to be in direct competition to the iTunes store and is sure to take away a lot of business. Not only will this new Google store mean that you can download music for a fee, but the ultimate aim is to have some type of subscription service whereby you will be able to listen to whatever you want whenever you want to – sounds great.
This new service from Google might really shake things up and it will be interesting to see how it all turns out. Apparently the launch date is still only rumours because the different record labels will need to give their approval first of all. The understanding seems to be though that the record labels seem mostly positive about the plans that have been proposed by Google. Maybe this service will be able to even include the Beatles collection – that really would be a high-coup but this is purely speculation on my part. This new service does seem to be going ahead though and we will soon see what it has to offer.
The fact that Google plans to have this new music service up and running at Christmas is a shrewd move – after all this is the time when a lot of us will be making purchases. I think that it is great that there is going to be competition for the Apple store and maybe this will later lead to a fall in prices for purchasing music online. If this music is more reasonably priced it will probably mean that less people will download music illegally – the subscription service also sounds fascinating.
