The latest news from search engine Yahoo is the stepping down of Jerry Yang from the position of Chief Executive Officer. This is not going to make Yahoo a CEO- less company. Yang will continue to be in the position of CEO until a successor is ready to replace him.
Yahoo has already started searching for a new CEO. Yang became the CEO of the company as per the decisions of the board and had become a crucial part of the transformation of the company. Once a new CEO is selected, Yang will come back to the position of the Chief Yahoo. He will continue as one of the members of the board of Directors.
In the midst of various challenges and distractions, Jerry Yang managed to reposition Yahoo on the open platform model. He had also taken a crucial role in the alignment of costs and revenues. The executive board of Yahoo had expressed their gratitude to Yang for his service as CEO for over 18 months. At the same time, they consider time has come for the new CEO to take the company to newer levels, while Yang will cooperate with the company as a key member of the executive board and to be involved in the activities of Yahoo and its growth.
