Ontario Search Engine Optimization
What is search engine optimization? Why do I need it?
Simply put, search engine optimization (SEO) is a way to make sure that the right people find you. These people are potential customers, clients, fans and supporters, who are ready to investigate, visit, donate or purchase.
It’s unlikely that you're the only business in your city competing for your client’s business. Where do you show up in the search results when someone looks for your products or services? Are you on the first page of results? If so, are you near the top of the page? No matter how good you are at what you do, if you're not on that first page, probably within the first few listings, your potential clients won't find you – they'll find your competitor who’s at the top of that first search results page. (We joke that the best place to hide a dead body is page 2 of Google search results).
Competition for internet exposure has never been fiercer and a relatively small outlay for SEO can transform your website's performance from nowhere to everywhere in a matter of months. Good search engine optimization will increase your website's visibility so that local and national customers will find you when they need your goods or services. It turns your website into a 24/7 sales and marketing department, not only increasing the quantity of traffic but, more importantly, the quality of that traffic: the people who want what you have.
What is SEO?
SEO is more than you probably know.
Most off-line purchases today start with online research using search engines. SEO focuses on getting high rankings in the search engines for your website's chosen keywords or key phrases, and delivering those visitors who are most likely to convert into customers. SEO ensures that when a potential customer searches for your product or services, you are on the first page of the search engine results.
Many people think of it as a simple process where you pack your website’s pages with keywords and phrases: “If I put ‘Turkish taffy’ and ‘chewy’ a bunch of times on each page, and in the headings and meta tags, that'll put me high on the search results, right?” Nope. Doesn't work. You get the right words, but, and this is important, you don't get the traffic. Or you get the traffic, but they do a drive-by: “wait, this isn’t what I want.” You want that traffic to be visitors who are looking for what you've got and, in the case of local SEO, where you've got it.
Effective SEO starts with a strategy. Digital marketing means nothing without a digital strategy. At Ontario SEO, we create a complete online marketing strategy to maximize conversions and return on your investment. We start by learning about you, your business, your customers and your goals, and research and analyze your existing website (and those of your competitors, because getting to the top of the search results means that someone else has to give up that spot).
